Established in 1993, La Boîte à mots relies today on a strong network of collaborators and is still managed by its cofounders René Morin and Andrée Sirois.
René is a professional translator, but the pièce de résistance is his rare sensibility for the nuances of both French and English, a talent that makes him a masterful communicator. René’s decidedly eclectic career path has added a wealth of technical, cultural and political insights to his formal education as a translator. He’s worked side by side with high-ranking officials of La Francophonie, guided the government of Vietnam in its training efforts, addressed conferences around the world, managed a business portal and organized large-scale international events. At one time, René also served as an elected official in municipal politics. On the strength of his surefire speaking and communications skills, he knows how to project the best image for national organizations that call on him to manage their media and public relations initiatives.
After a few contracts as a translator-editor for the federal government, Andrée realized her destiny as a businesswoman and educator. In addition to her role as a founding translator at La Boîte à mots and to serving the educational needs of the agency’s growing client base, Andrée was president of the Network of Translators in Education for seven years. She has been an active participant in local school politics and is an elected school trustee. As a consultant-trainer for various businesses and organizations, Andrée is a skilled presenter of French-language courses and workshops. Her knowledge of French-language intricacies, her precision with details and her insatiable curiosity are the unique and indispensable strengths Andrée offers every client.
